The horrors of Hurricane Harvey are difficult to comprehend, we were lucky here at Kyla’s Lab. This was my first hurricane and we have had bad floods before but nothing like we experienced with past few days. I have friends and family that were directly affected from the storm. I want to give to after the influx of help has slowed down. I want to spread that luck and love to those in need. For the entire month of September all of the profit off of my yarns will be send to the Houston Food Bank and the Southeast Texas Food Bank.
A lot of knitters, weavers, and creatives lost their stashes and work. Amazing organizations have already come through with a system to help. The Ralvery group Knit Two Together for Texas is one. You can give or request a donation http://www.ravelry.com/groups/knit-two-together-for-texas How can you help other artists: http://glasstire.com/2017/09/01/houston-art-suppliers-offering-relief-for-artists/ http://glasstire.com/2017/08/28/heres-a-list-of-emergency-resources-for-artists/ I am also attaching an article for you to donate money directly to local origination that interests you. 46% of the population of Texas was affected by this storm, and it was not just Houston but all of Southeast Texas. Let’s keep love in our hearts beyond this tragedy. https://www.houstoniamag.com/articles/2017/8/29/donate-to-these-local-houston-charities
Hello Everyone,
I have stated the Art of Yarn podcast, were we will talk monthly about yarn related arts, crafts, as well as the arts as a whole. This first episode I set up the show structure and talked a little bit about creativity. Check it out. Thank you to all that came out to the Houston Fiber Festival! I had a blast meeting all of you. I loved talking to each of you about yarn, knitting and all things fiber related. It was great yo meet other creative and inspiring indie dyers like Yarn Carnival and Noti.
I also had the great pleasure to teach color theory to creative craftswomen who have been intimidated by color. I am so happy that they left my class with more confidence and eager to explore color combos on their own. I am working on getting my etsy shop up to date. Check back in a few days for new stock and a summer coupon code for my birthday. |
